Cammeray

This renovation in Cammeray brings a much loved family home into its next chapter, pairing original character with a calm, contemporary layer designed around modern family life. Spread across three levels, the alterations and additions balance old and new so the home feels both timeless and fresh.

Rather than erase the home’s history, we kept the details that give it personality. The picture rails, cornices, original glass panelled door and staircase balustrade all remain. Around them we created a new layer of light, flow and function.

The ground floor now opens into a connected kitchen, dining and living space set on oak herringbone parquetry. Warm neutral shaker cabinetry, Calacatta Oro stone, ceramic wall sconces and brushed nickel tapware give the kitchen a tailored, timeless feel. An oak bar with integrated lighting creates a natural place to gather and entertain.

At the rear, the alfresco becomes a true outdoor room. A motorised louvre roof and side walls open to the sky or close against the weather, with limestone paving underfoot and a built in outdoor kitchen. A new steel staircase with blackbutt treads leads down to the lower deck and garden.

Each bathroom has its own character, with tumbled stone and marble mosaic floors, textured white wall tiles and Calacatta Oro vanities. Upstairs, the main bedroom gains new glazing, a custom robe and a window seat, while new skylights draw daylight deep into the home.

Behind the finishes sits a home built to perform, with a new Colorbond roof, upgraded insulation, solar with battery storage and provision for EV charging. It is a Lower North Shore renovation that respects the past while being ready for the years ahead.
